Whenever I struggle & fall into sin, it’s usually b/c I’ve forgotten who I am in Christ, even if just for a moment. As I read some passage from 1 Peter today, I was reminded of these truths:
We reside as aliens here – 1:1
We are chosen – 1:1
We are sprinkled w/ His blood – 1:2
We have grace & peace in the fullest measure – 1:1
We are born again – 1:3, 23
We have obtained His inheritance – 1:4
We are protected by the power of God – 1:5
We are redeemed w/ the precious blood of Jesus – 1:18-19
We are believers in God – 1:21
We are being built up as a spiritual house – 2:5
We are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession – 2:9
We are called out of darkness into His marvelous light – 2:9
We are the people of God – 2:10
We have received mercy – 2:10
We are bondslaves of God – 2:16
…and that’s just a few things to made me want to shout “Hallelujah!!!” What else do you see?
When I was a teenager, my Daddy used to say to me every time I walked out of the house on a Friday or Saturday night in Cleveland, MS, “Son, remember who you are.” Maybe, today, we need to hear our HEAVENLY Daddy say that to us.
