This Means War!

When I was the youth minister at First Baptist Church in Brookhaven during the early & mid-90’s, we had a DNow weekend which had as its theme, “This Means War!” During that weekend, we helped our students understand some of the facets of this thing called spiritual warfare. Now that I’m a senior pastor, I’ve discovered that this thing called spiritual warfare just…

Detestable Things

Our “Read-Pray-Obey” (RPO) passage for today is Proverbs 6:16-19. In these verses, there are 7 things that are “detestable” (things that are an abomination; things that are deserving of intense dislike) to the Lord listed in this passage: …haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to…

Your dog drops his ears & cowers at your feet. Your…

You’re old.”  Notice the exclamation point after the “Happy birthday” – emphasizing the excitement & happiness of another birthday.  Notice the period after the “You’re old” – emphasizing her perception of the reality of this milestone in my life. Those…
