Mission Byram

Note: During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mission Byram leaders are following all state and federal guidelines in processing and distributing food to our faithful clients.  This is accomplished by limiting our volunteer base to 8-9 volunteers, practicing social distancing, and maintaining health practices that can control the spread of COVID-19.  We will continue to distribute food as long as we can obey state and federal guidelines.  We are not accepting donations at this time.  We will begin accepting donations again once we feel that it is safe to do so.  Our #1 goal is the health and safety of our volunteers and our clients.  We appreciate our volunteers, but we must limit the number of people serving in this ministry until further notice.  If you have not already been selected to volunteer and are interested in doing so, please contact the church office.

Over the past several years, many members of Country Woods have had the opportunity to serve the residents of Arlington, TX through a ministry called Mission Arlington.  After meeting Tillie Burgin (the founder of Mission Arlington) and experiencing the love that both Tillie and the many volunteers have for the people of Arlington, we caught a vision of what being the hands and feet of Jesus could actually look like in our community.  As a result of our combined experiences with Mission Arlington, Mission Byram was born.  On the 1st Saturday, the Tuesday following the 1st Saturday, the 1st Wednesday, the 3rd Saturday, and the 3rd Wednesday  of each month a small army of volunteers gather in the Country Woods gym to live out the commandments of Jesus; love God and love people.  Mission Byram clients are offered one on one counseling services.  They are also able to shop for clothes and food because of the many generous donations provided by individuals, area businesses and the Mississippi Food Network.    Some of the many service opportunities include: registration, counseling, organizing donations, food pantry, clothes closet, loading shopping bags in cars, and teaching children.
