Today has been a day and it’s only 1:00pm. Teaching my 6 year old from home, getting ready to teach my own students from home (online), shepherding a group of colleagues through new online adventures, getting answers to unknown questions, not having answers to known questions, and just deciding what’s for lunch today have all been overwhelming tasks!
In the midst of the chaos, I grabbed my chronological Bible and headed to the porch swing to get some peace and perspective and to allow God’s Word to change my heart and attitude. I need an Attitude Adjustment today!!
Today’s reading (March 20) starts in Deuteronomy 29:2-29. Deuteronomy 29:5 says, “For forty years I led you through the wilderness, yet your clothes and sandals did not wear out.” Wow! Yesterday, I just threw away a duck taped pair of tennis shoes my husband has only had maybe 5 years (I’m not sure exactly how long; I just know they were duck taped and he HASN’T had them since he was 8 years old)!
Am I in the wilderness today? NO! I may feel like someone should be playing “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses in the background, but I’m not even in the jungle…I’m in my comfortable house with my 3 children this afternoon.
As I read the above verse, I felt as though the Lord quickly said to me, “I have allowed the coronavirus pandemic to occur, YET…
Your family has their health.”
You have food in your pantry.”
You have a job.”
You have toilet paper.”
You have transportation.”
You have running water.”
You have electricity.”
You have your daily medicine.”
You know WHO is in control.”
If you’ve been reading chronologically with the church, or even if you haven’t, you probably know that the Israelites were back and forth in their faithfulness to God. Through these difficult days I pray that we all will choose steadfast faith. I know my wavering today called for an attitude adjustment. I don’t know if you need an adjustment too, but I do know that God has a “YET” to show you today!
